Featured Performer

Liam Sullivan is currently the principal cellist of the Empire State Symphony Orchestra.  He joined the organization in his sophomore year of high school and is now in his third year of membership.  He began playing the cello in fourth grade, but began to take it seriously in eighth grade thanks to the guidance of his middle school orchestra teacher, Heather Walker.  This will be his second year joining the Repertory Orchestra to perform.  In 2023, Liam was the runner-up of the Lois Lyman Concerto Competition and performed the third movement of the Saint Saens Cello Concerto in A minor with the orchestra.  Various music festivals he has attended include the Boston University Tanglewood Institute and the Brevard Orchestral Institute, where he began studying under his current teacher, Pei-an Chao.  He has since performed in multiple masterclasses for established musicians including Mihail Jojatu, Allison Eldredge, and the Mertz Trio.  Liam is now a senior at Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School and will be graduating this June.
