Two wonderful ESYO groups came together with The College of Saint Rose Chamber Orchestra at the Massry Center for the Arts on November 16 for an evening of music by wonderful youth performers from the elementary through university level. It was a great display of the breadth of musical offerings for youth right in the Capital Region.
The free event began with a performance of ESYO CHIME musicians led by Program Director John Connolly. The CHIME Advanced Strings players began the set, followed by a performance with the Intermediate Strings players. The CHIME musicians then played a side-by-side with their student mentors on the ESYO String Orchestra of the exciting piece, Conquistador. The opportunity to play side-by-sides with other ESYO ensembles presents our youngest players in the CHIME with the opportunity to see where their playing can take them, John explained to the supportive audience. For more information about the unique opportunity CHIME presents its young musicians, go to www.esyo.org/chime.
CHIME was followed by a performance by the Saint Rose Chamber Orchestra lead by Dr. David Bebe. The group include several ESYO alums.
The evening was then concluded with a performance by the ESYO String Orchestra lead by Joseph Gumpper. The String Orchestra performed Thee Mannheim Symphonies, Pizzicato Blues, Night on Bald Mountain, and The Black Sea.
Thank you to all who came out in support of our wonderful string players—past and present!
