Nov 1: Annual Young People’s Concert

November 1, 2016 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am

This annual concert reaches into the heart of the community to teach hundreds of Capital Region elementary and middle school students about classical music. The Youth Orchestra will present an interactive program entitled Music: An Expression of Life featuring works by Antonin Dvořák and Gustav Mahler.

Special guest DJ Gustav will be on hand to help our young audience explore the wide range of emotion in our musical presentation, from the joyous street celebration illustrated in Dvořák’s Carnival Overture, to the dizzying highs and lows featured in selections from Mahler’s First Symphony. DJ Gustav will use his own set of “building blocks” on stage to help the audience to “see” the structure of each musical selection and how this framework establishes a certain mood. As always, the program will include an introduction to the instruments of the orchestra.

The concert is sponsored by our partners at CDPHP.
