Repertory Jazz Ensemble is another example of ESYO responding to the needs of young musicians. Started in 2006, this ensemble’s members are generally slightly younger and less experienced players than those in the Youth Jazz Ensemble. As members of Repertory Jazz, these players will have an opportunity to improve their jazz ensemble and solo improvisational skills through a repertoire covering the history of jazz – the early swing of the 1920s to today’s contemporary jazz.
Rehearsals are once a week, held on weeknights from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Niskayuna High School unless otherwise noted.
Entrance auditions are held in June.
