ESYO Music Director Carlos Ágreda kicks off a weekend of virtual spring concerts with Dvorak’s Serenade for Strings and Clarice Assad’s “Dynamic, fresh” (The Aspen Times) “Impressions,” as well as Lyric for Strings by Samuel Barbers friend and Curtis Institute classmate, George Walker. Repertory Romantic Orchestra springs up with Franz Liszt’s cartoon classic Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 and the vivid Poem for Orchestra by film composer and TV arranger John Tatgenhorst.

Take an evening stroll with ESYO Symphony Classical Orchestra, ESYO Percussion Ensemble, and the ESYO String Orchestra. Carlos Ágreda leads the Symphony Classical Orchestra on a music tour of Aaron Copland's Three Latin-American sketches, and the 2020 Lois Lyman Concerto Competition winner, William Lauricella, performs Piano Concerto No. 2 by Shostakovich. ESYO percussionists offer a healing prayer composed by ESYO’s own Richard Albagli, while ESYO String Orchestra explores the Brazilian-inspired Song for my Father by Jazzmaster Horace Silver.

FREE || Take a stroll down Altamont’s Mainstreet towards Park Street to enjoy LIVE music in Orsini Park.  Bring a chair or spread your blanket and enjoy an afternoon picnic at the Village Gazebo while small youth-led ESYO ensembles spring up with a basket of fresh chamber works.  Social distancing and masks are required.  Help ESYO Young Leaders make a difference.  Instead of your ticket, bring a donation or non-perishable food item for the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern NY.

Curated and hosted by next-generation musicians and artists from ESYO's Young Leader Program, a Soundwalk is an immersive audio experience crafted to accompany a walker's self-guided stroll through Albany's historic park.  ESYO musicians perform music by William Lauricella, Jason Handron, Matthew Kenyon, Shiriyan Ahuja, Mike Blostein, Monica Roach, June and Clare Criscione, Asrom Houston, and local composer Bretty Weary. Plus a special guest performance by Musicians of Ma'alwyck.
