Learning Module Seven: Creating a Memorable Concert Program

As we learned in the video, concerts can be designed to meet the interests of a certain type of audience. This applies to any compilation of music, like albums or even playlists.

Think of a friend or family member, and curate a playlist that you think would appeal specifically to them. Include songs that you know that they already enjoy, as well as some songs that you would like to introduce them to.

Explore a setlist of a pop artist that you enjoy. (You can search for them on websites like https://www.setlist.fm/.)

What do you notice about the “energy flow” as you move through the list? Are slow, emotional moments followed by energetic hits? Can you detect any connections between the songs?

Do the concerts follow the traditional format of an overture, a concerto, an intermission, and a symphony? Are any of the concerts themed?

If you want inspiration, think of pieces that you have played in ESYO or CHIME. Do any of them have a common theme? Which would you put into the same concert?
