Sounding Together | Day 1

Welcome to the first night of#SoundingTogether, ESYO's first-ever digital music festival. A few months ago, when COVID-19 caused our community to shelter in place, Empire State Youth Orchestra decided that music would not stop. Undeterred by the Great Pause, ESYO transitioned its entire program to the virtual world, connecting through google meet and google classroom to continue learning and making music in new ways. What you will see this evening, and over the course of the next two nights, is the culmination of the hard work, dedication and passion of our musicians, coaches, teaching artists, conductors, staff and production crew. Tonight, the musical voices of our youth will invite you to join in our celebration. To be thrilled by their talent and moved by their passion. Because you are joining us from the comfort of your home, you can let loose, hum along, and “sound together with us.”

Sounding Together | Day 2

Welcome everyone to the second evening of ESYO's#SoundingTogether virtual music festival. Tonight, you are in for another musical treat, with numbers by our Jazz orchestras, a performance by our 2020 Lois Lyman Concerto Winner, William Lauricella, and the finale; “What a Wonderful World,” by our Concertino Strings. Empire State Youth Orchestra would like to dedicate this evening's performances to our school teachers, who have worked hard during this Great Pause to continue providing children in the Capital Region with meaningful learning experiences and a sense of "normalcy" during these crazy times. You are amazing, and we truly appreciate all you do for our youth!

Sounding Together | Day 3

Welcome, everyone, to the final evening of ESYO's#SoundingTogether digital music festival. The first two nights offered outstanding performances by ESYO's percussion and Jazz ensembles, Concerto Winners, Wind Orchestra and the Concertino String Ensemble. Tonight, we will feature our youngest ensembles and most advanced ensembles: Concertino wind, brass and percussion and the digital world premiere of Ay Caray, composed by ESYO's very own Music Director, Carlos Agreda and performed, side-by-side, in a 360 virtual reality, by our Repertory and Symphony orchestras. Tonight’s performances are dedicated to the future of the arts, a future that our youth are building—right now. COVID-19 might have forced us to make music in a different way than in the past, but it hasn’t deterred our desire to keep sounding together. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the third and final night of Sounding Together. Watch Ay Caray on youtube here:https://youtu.be/WbhavewfBcE
