Welcome to the first night of #SoundingTogether, ESYO's first-ever digital music festival. A few months ago, when COVID-19 caused our community to shelter in place, Empire State Youth Orchestra decided that music would not stop. Undeterred by the Great Pause, ESYO transitioned its entire program to the virtual world, connecting through google meet and google classroom to continue learning and making music in new ways. What you will see this evening, and over the course of the next two nights, is the culmination of the hard work, dedication and passion of our musicians, coaches, teaching artists, conductors, staff and production crew. Tonight, the musical voices of our youth will invite you to join in our celebration. To be thrilled by their talent and moved by their passion. Because you are joining us from the comfort of your home, you can let loose, hum along, and “sound together with us.”
